US-President Donald Trump (70) is known for his frequent and bold Twitter tendencies. His use of the word Covfefe in a tweet at the end of May triggered a massive hype and had the whole world puzzling over what he could have meant. Not long afterwards, the world proceeded to puzzle over Tim Saciri’s (36) plans: Saciri, an inhabitant of Valais, Switzerland, has managed to secure the brand rights to the mysterious term.
Now his intentions are clear: According to the trademark register, he wants to produce and sell drinks under the Covfefe name. «In September, I’ll be launching a drink with the name Covfefe», he confirmed to BLICK.
Saciri wants the production to take place in Switzerland, however further details will not be available until August. «It’s going to be an energy drink», he stated. Unlike other leading energy drinks, Covfefe will contain only natural ingredients. Will caffeine be in the mix? Possibly, says Saciri.
Requests from around the world
The Valaisian does not, however, plan on stopping at beverages. Saciri has also secured the rights for fashion items. «I’ve received requests from people all around the world who want to collaborate and launch something with me». First he’ll be focussing his energy on two projects: drinks and clothing.
As Saciri snapped up the brand rights before two other interested parties, a Swede and a Russian, he’s now an in-demand man and receives about 50 e-mails daily. He was in Italy yesterday, is in Germany today and will subsequently travel back to England - all for business meetings concerning Covfefe matters.
Success of the product is uncertain
Market specialist Marc Hauser (45) is skeptical when it comes to the question of whether or not the brand will succeed. «For the initial launch of a product, the famous word could help. The question is, however, how long the Covfefe-hype will last». He further pointed out that Trump is disliked by many. For those reasons, the venture could backfire.
Saciri has already invested 10,000 Swiss Francs in patents and a website, covfefe-swiss.com. The fact that Saciri was the first taker with Covfefe has not come out of the blue: The Valaisian with Macedonian roots invented and patented a bite protection device for dogs ten years ago.
